::The history of the Union church is a pioneering saga that started when there was no English church .It was built by continentals with their own money and their own contractors week by, week beginning with the Necodomo church in Miramar, until they outgrew it. With a gift of land by Arthur Harvey in Puntas Las Marias they began a building drive that week b y week built the present day Union Church. II was literately built by their own hands and grew so rapidly that there was no longer any room for the huge Sunday service. It was decided that a new Second Union church would b e built past Santa Maria in Urb. Apollo. It is there today. All this took almost 60 years.Very few of the old families who built these two churches are alive today but their names are on the pues and stained glass windows. This all took place during the golden age of Puerto Rico from1955 to 1975. It was a time of miracles and we walk on the shoulders of those giants. John Allen Franciscus
